Ecological workshop 2018: New life to your old clothes

15 de December de 2017

Learn to take care of the planet using imagination and creativity. That is the invitation of the workshop “Eco Imagination” at Eduardo Frei Montalva House Museum, which will be held on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 on January, 2018.

The Eduardo Frei Montalva House Museum invites you to rethink the way you see a used cloth, thanks to a new edition of the “Eco imagination” workshop, initiative that it’s free of charge to participants and which aims to encourage creativity using the “three Rs”: reduce, reuse and recycle. Oriented for children from five to 14 years old, in a new version, the activity teaches creative ways of renewing fabrics and discarding materials, transforming them into cushions and bags.

To achieve this goal, the garden of the house of the former President Eduardo Frei Montalva, will become, during two afternoons of January, in an active recycling workshop, where children and young people will learn to give new life to their used clothes. Transforming it into other objects, or simply “customizing” it with patches and decorations.

It should be noted that the place where the workshop is held is not random. The Staff of the House Museum of EFM organizes the Eco imagination workshop as a way to support its mission to spread the personality, lifestyle and service vocation of Eduardo Frei Montalva, who raised his interest in environmental conservation in several of his speeches and actions within his government (1964-1970).

Registration is for free (limited space) and is done through the contact contacto@casamuseoeduardofrei.cl or by phone (562) 28818674. There are two dates available: Thursday, January 4 or Friday, January 5, 2017 (you must choose one). In both cases, the workshop will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the house located at Hindenburg Street #683, Providencia.

Participants must bring two or three used and clean cotton t-shirts (hopefully not too small), in addition to discarding material that can be used to decorate, such as electronic items, pieces of toys, fabrics, among others.

The activity will be in charge of Giovanna Guerino, audiovisualist, environmentalist and creator of the Eco imagination Workshop, an instance for children and their families to share, reflect and develop their creativity, contributing to the sustainability of our environment.

You are all invited to participate in this entertaining summer workshop!
