Students, teachers and the community of the Swiss School of Santiago\u00a0can enjoy until August 27th<\/sup>, 2015\u00a0two\u00a0travelling\u00a0exhibitions\u00a0created by EFM House Museum: \u201c20th<\/sup>\u00a0Century Timeline\u201d and \u201cLandscapes and Characters\u201d with reproductions of the painting collection that belonged to Frei\u00a0Montalva.<\/p>\n

Both exhibitions will be at the Swiss School until August 27th of 2015<\/p><\/div>\n

On Wednesday August 19th<\/sup>, in one of the libraries of the Swiss School, located at Jos\u00e9 Domingo\u00a0Ca\u00f1as\u00a02206 borough of\u00a0\u00d1u\u00f1oa,\u00a0were\u00a0inaugurated two travelling exhibitions of\u00a0Eduardo Frei\u00a0Montalva\u00a0House\u00a0Museum. In the opening ceremony, with the participation of Claudia\u00a0Engeler, school principal, and\u00a0Maite\u00a0Gallego, deputy director of EFM House Museum, was highlighted the possibility of\u00a0having a cultural space\u00a0available\u00a0 for the students.<\/p>\n

Thus, until August 27th<\/sup> 2015, the community of this educational establishment will be able to approach differently to the milestones of the 20th<\/sup>\u00a0century through the timeline\u00a0created by the EFM House Museum, where they can visualize the main milestones<\/strong> of the history of Chile\u00a0in the 20th<\/sup>\u00a0century, the world and Frei\u00a0Montalva\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

A century that, among other things, was characterized by\u00a0a series of migratory movements due to economic crisis, wars or the search for new horizons, as was the case Eduardo Frei\u00a0Montalva\u2019 father, Eduard Frey\u00a0Schlinz.\u00a0He was a\u00a0Swiss Lutheran\u00a0protestant\u00a0who was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1885 and stayed in Chile\u00a0forever\u00a0after marrying Victoria\u00a0Montalva\u00a0with whom he had three children.<\/p>\n

\u201cLandscapes and Characters\u201d including reproductions of some of the painting collection of EFM House Museum<\/p><\/div>\n

Furthermore, this demonstration\u00a0\u00a0is complementary with the exhibition \u201cLandscapes and Characters: paintings of Eduardo Frei\u00a0Montalva\u00a0House Museum\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 including reproductions of some works that belong to the private collection of the ex-president, with authors like Ernesto\u00a0Charton\u00a0de\u00a0Treville, Juan Francisco\u00a0Gonz\u00e1les, Arturo Gordon,\u00a0Ra\u00fal\u00a0Monteola, Alberto\u00a0Orrego\u00a0Luco, Antonio Smith, Alberto Valenzuela Llanos\u00a0and Oswaldo\u00a0Guayasam\u00edn.<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that all the original art is exhibited permanently in Eduardo Frei\u00a0Montalva\u00a0House Museum,\u00a0residence where the ex-president lived with his family for more than 40 years. The house is located at Hindenburg 683, borough of Providencia, Santiago. Tuesday\u00a0to\u00a0Sunday\u00a0from\u00a010:00 am to 06:00\u00a0pm.<\/p>\n

Karl Obrist, interim vice-principal of secondary education at the Swiss School, Maite Gallego, deputy director of EFM House Museum, Claudia\u00a0Engeler, the Swiss School principal and history teacher Stefan Di Francesco, head of the history department of the school<\/p><\/div>\n

Claudia\u00a0Engeler, at the\u00a0opening exhibition,\u00a0highlighted the fact that in this opportunity the museum goes beyond its walls to install a part of it in the library of the Swiss School:\u00a0\u201cIt\u00a0is a great step having part of the museum in the school, also, because there is a close relationship between Frei and Switzerland. That makes the entire process,\u00a0as well as entertaining and different for the community, something complete\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the other hand,\u00a0Maite\u00a0Gallego\u00a0invited\u00a0the community of the Swiss School to\u00a0visit the EFM House Museum and\u00a0to use its educational resources and spaces as part of the school\u00a0curriculum:\u00a0\u201cWe\u00a0are convinced that\u00a0nowadays\u00a0the museums and exhibitions are not only conservations sites of a collection, but also places that\u00a0serve\u00a0as an important support for the development of the culture of the country\u00a0and the classroom, where we can experience the contents taught in history or art classes, among others, achieving a living and direct learning\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n
