Object of the month: Prize to the most intellectual Senator

The bust of Bernardo O’Higgins was a prize given by the political journalists during the time Eduardo Frei Montalva was elected Senator of the Republic. This prize will be exhibited during this month as a remembrance of his outstanding senatorial labor in March 1949. [Read complete article]

 

Object of the month: The Thesis of a future Statesman

During January -due to the centennial of Eduardo Frei Montalva- his house nowadays a museum, will exhibit his thesis, which later became a book. His thesis and some related-documents and pictures will be exposed, as a remembrance of his years in college. [Read complete article]

 

House Museum: Opening up to the academic world

More than 700 academic authorities from the main universities of our country were invited during this year by the Eduardo Frei Montalva’s House Museum, not only with the purpose of generating working relationships, but also offering research and teaching support in areas related to humanities and social sciences. Object of the Month: Vinyl Discs with a History Behind Them

 Throughout December, part of Casa Museo Eduardo Frei Montalva’s 250-vinyl disc collection goes on display for the first time in a special exhibition that unveils the former president’s musical tastes. Among the collection, “La Pérgola de las Flores” and “Canciones de la Patria Joven” (1964) are highlighted discs. During this month, due to the birth anniversary of Jacques Maritain, a French philosopher who was born on November the 18th, of great influence on Eduardo Frei Montalva’s Christian social thinking, the House Museum will exhibit a book with a dedication, an autographed portrait and letters which show us how close both intellectuals were. Object of the Month: “Adiós al séptimo de línea” at Casa Museo

The original copy No. 1,000,000 of one of the best-sellers of the ‘50s – a work newly turned into a prime time drama – will be open for public view in a special exhibition through October at Casa Museo Eduardo Frei Montalva. The copy of the book by Jorge Inostrosa was dedicated to the former president and has been kept in his house for 45 years. [Read complete article]

Object of the Month: Presents from Community-based Organizations

During the whole month of August, our Mouseum will put on display silver and copper trays and an ashtray, special presents from Centros de Madres (Mothers’ Centers) and Juntas de Vecinos (Neighborhood Residents’ Committees) representatives, to Eduardo Frei Montalva, in gratitude for the creation of such organizations, 42 years ago.
