Donation to Museum of Communications

Several radio receivers which belonged to Eduardo Frei Montalva were donated to UNIACC University to be exhibited at Museum of Communications, one of the projects being developed by the institution.
Magdalena Frei Larraechea, Director of Casa Museo Eduardo Frei Montalva, together with María José Lira, Deputy Director, and Kareen Lowick-Russell, Communication Officer, attended a breakfast were the donation of four radio receivers – property of the former president – took place. The objects are to be part of the collection of one of the projects put forward by the educational institution: the Museum of Communications.

“The idea was inspired by the donation made by Andrés Guiloff (one of the founders of UNIACC and former Executive Director). Since then, we have received various objects which are distributed within the university for the time being, given that we do not have a single place for their exhibition” affirmed Alejandra Cisternas, Coordinator of UNIACC University Library (CREA), the department leading the museum project.

Casa Museo Eduardo Frei Montalva displays over 350 personal objects of the former president which account for 90 percent of his personal patrimony. Although the devices were not part of the collection of the house – decorated in a 1960s style-  their donation, an expression of cooperation and alliance towards UNIACC University, is of high importance. Furthermore, the radio receivers are to be exhibited together with antique photograph cameras, gramophones, radio receivers, film cameras, telephones and even the first cell phones; items currently exhibited in display cases within the University.

Other people present at the breakfast meeting were Susana Palomino, Public Relations Officer of Communication and Continuing Education Vice Provost Office, and Gustavo Cárdenas, General Registrar, both from UNIACC University.
